YITUEY "Espacio = Vida"
Paralelo 18 | 3" CD

Loudly praised by me in the previous edition of ERP, Claudio Chea aka Yituey comes back with a new 3" CD release - this time on his own label Paralelo 18. Some time has passed by, but my good opinion on his work hasn't changed - the opening track that blends greatly birds shrieking with background electronic music proves the success of 'Sonadores' wasn't accidental. Yituey has a sensible ear! Like Kiyoshi Mizutani he can catch a moment that could be missed by a passenger but he doesn't stay at the surface of setting controls. Yituey is a composer - he takes both natural and artifical sound sources, and creates. All tracks on this release are interesting mixtures of field recordings - birds, insects, water, and something else I cannot define, with easy listening electronic. 'Espacio = Vida' was composed for the needs of the public art project of Puerto Rico (artist's hometown). Perhaps if associated visually with the exhibition the tracks would reveal some other context, listening to them separately, however, has its own value too. Very good!!!
